The Hart County Library and the Savannah River Valley Genealogical Society (SRVGS) has recently acquired a microfilm reader and printer for the patrons to use. The library has census records and most of the old issues of the Hartwell Suns on microfilm that can be viewed and printed with the machine. In the past you could only view the images and now you can print the articles that you are interested in. Anyone instested in using the machine may contact the staff at the library. The Hart County Library and the SRVGS held a program on Friday, August 13, 2010 called “Staying up with Dead”. Everyone learned how to use the microfilm reader/printer and enjoyed using the library resources and computer to do genealogy research. The SRVGS holds a meeting every month and hosts a “Genealogy Expo” in March of every year. The SRVGS has purchased many of the genealogical books and research material and placed them in the library for patrons to use. The SRVGS may be contacted at www.srvgs.com or call David T Ray at 706-376-7396 or e-mail davidr@hartcom.net.
