I am searching for the father of Elizabeth A. Henderson b. 14 Dec 1823 S.C. d. 6 Jul 1909; married James Stewart Cunningham CSA b. 1824 Franklin Co., GA. d. 9 Sep 1864 Ocmulgee Hospital Macon, GA.
I have NO idea of the name of Elizabeth’s parents, although I found William A. Henderson lived in same area as Franklin Cunningham on 1830 Elbert County census… possibly father of Elizabeth? James Henderson witnessed Franklin’s will, so obviously a trusted friend of the family.
I am searching for any Henderson descendants from Hart Co., who have further information.

On 12 Sep 1810 the Clerk of the Court of Ordinary of Franklin Co. (which adjoined Elbert Co.in 1810) placed an ad in a Wilkes Co. newspaper calling on all kindred and creditors to appear at the next court to show any cause as to why Benjamin Thornton and Thomas Thornton, Jr., who had applied for Letters of Administration on the estate of Thomas Thornton, deceased, should not be granted such Letters. The Thomas Thornton who was a son of Benjamin Thornton, Sr. of Elbert Co. cannot be the Thomas, Jr. because he would have been around age 10. So was the Thomas Thornton, deceased, the father of Benjamin Thornton, Sr. and also the father of the Thomas Thornton, Jr.?

According to information from Ancestry.com, Gilbert D. T. Sanders, who was killed in the Civil War, is buried in the Reed Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Bowersville.

There was another brother, Matthew (Mattheus?) L. G. Sanders, b. about 1842, who I think was killed in the Civil War, but I cannot find anything online about his death or burial. I would also like information about him if anyone has any.
I would greatly appreciate any information anyone can provide.

Looking for maiden name of priscilla ?? b1820, married 1st Henry T Smith, Franklin Co Ga, with children, Rhoda, Lavennia and James Madison Smith b 1846. Next married Joseph Bailey in Hart Co Ga, they had children: George T & Vastine b 1859, Stonewall Jackson & Captain Morgan b 1862/3, then Robert Lee Bailey. Do not know where they are buried, but feel that they did not live anywhere other than Hart Co after 1859. Priscilla could be a Thomas. There were some connections with the Smiths and Thomas families. Rhoda petitioned the court for a Thomas to be her guardian. There was also a Jackson name connected in some way. That would have been in Franklin Co. Her first in-laws were Hezekiah & Mary (Polly) Thomas Smith of Franklin Ga. Priscilla and her children are in the Hezekiah Smith household in 1850 census. She married Joseph Bailey. Lavennia and James Madison are found in 1860 in the household of Mary Thomas in Tuscaloosa Co Al. Rhoda and Priscilla are in the Joseph Bailey household in 1860. Thank you!

The attached photo is supposedly of two Hart County brothers in their Civil War Uniforms – William Thomas Bailey and Henry M. Bailey.

This photo has been shown in several publications and locations. It (or a copy) is supposed to be in the Georgia Archives who obtained it in the Vanishing Georgia project back in the early ’70’s. That was a program where the University of Georgia sent out teams to each county seat in Georgia and asked people to bring old photographs in for copying so that they could save them in the Archives. So probably someone in Hart County had the original photograph at one time.
I am wondering if any of the members might know who had the original photo and supplied it to the Vanishing Georgia team back in the 1970s.

My husband Frank Hemphill is a descendant of the Ayers family. I communicate with some Ayers cousins from Hab. Co as well as other places. Through DNA, they have dscovered that all the Ayers in the aea are not kin – as they had always thought. One cousin, from Texas, has proved their families’ DNA to – they think – the Moses Aayers from Reed Creek. He has sent me an email saying he “understands the Moses Ayers house at Reed Creek has been restored”. He wants additional info. about it. I was not aware that anyone even knew where Moses Ayers of Reed Creek lived. Can anyone enlighten me on this.

Soldier James Adams, Jr. and Jane Cunningham, they having moved to Elbert Co. from Fluvanna Co., VA. Family tradition has always been that Catherine came from the Baltimore, MD area. However, the marriage bonds of Fluvanna Co., VA show that William Adams and Caty Mansfield’s were dated 20 Mar 1797, that they were with consent of James Adams, and that the bond was made by Jos. G. I am trying to look for the parents of my great grandfather, Henry Grady Crider, who was born 01/15/1891 in Hartwell, Hart County, Georgia and died 12/12/1958 in Calhoun Falls, Abbeville County, South Carolina. Henry married Nettie Adams, who was born 08/24/1893 in Mt. Yonah, White County, Georgia and died 05/29/1983 also in Calhoun Falls, Abbeville County, South Carolina and I know that they had the following children:

I have a tough dilemna with my genealogy research.
I have a question! My great great great grandmother Delphia Greenleaf was born in Africa in 1790 and sometime between 1790 and 1812 she was forced into the United States, because she had a son in Georgia, James Greenleaf in 1813 city or county unknown.
She was listed in Hamilton, Harris County, GA on the 1870 census and she was 80 years old.
Harris County was’nt developed until 1827 where would she possibly be in the early 1800s.
I am looking for slave owners with that surname or any information that you can obtain.

I have not been able to locate the graves of Richmond and Nancy Carson Skelton. The short death notice in the local newspaper says he was a member of Sardis Baptist Church but does not mention a burial place. If he was buried there it is not marked. They are my 3rd great grandparents. I descend from their daughter, Lucinda Amanda E. Skelton that married James Jasper Ray.

Does anyone know anything about John Burgess who married Mary F Sammons in 1868?
The only things I know about my great-grandfather, John Burgess, is his name, and the fact that he married Mary F Sammons on 23 Jan 1868 in Hart County. In the 1870 census, Mary is living with her mother and younger siblings and my toddler grandfather 300 miles away in Morgan county Alabama, with no sign of John Burgess.

We are looking for the mother of Georgia (Fountain) Pollett. Georgia was born Jan. 15, 1900 in Hart County, died Dec. 12 1925 in Montgomery County. Her father was (Jessie) Jack Fountain of Laurens County. Her husband was Lester Pollett.
We have had no luck finding her mother’s name via census records online. We have her death certificate with mother’s name “don’t know.”

I am looking for information on my G-G-Grandparents, William O Vasser & Mary W Edwards. I believe he was born in 1810 or 1812 and she was born near that time also. They were married 30 Dec 1832 in Elbert County. I located him in the 1840 census with 4 children under the age of 5 and he & his wife between 20 & 30 yrs old. My G-Grandfather, also named William O. Vasser was born on 17 Feb 17, 1848 in Franklin County. I believe there was 9 children. I can not find my G-G-Grandparents in the 1850 census, of the 9 children I find a few of them with various other families in the 1850 census.

My grandfather, Grover D. Meeler, ran a garage/grocery type business in Nuberg in 1926. He was killed in a train wreck in November 1926. I would like info on where I might find any photos of the business in Nuberg or info about it.

Searching for connections to Rev War soldier, Jacob Redwine, his daughter Barbara Redwine Parker and husband Joseph A. Parker to their daughter, Mary (Polly) Parker.
